Austin Proper Hotel

Praise, praise, praise. Our experience was truly unique, as our stay overlapped with a weekend of severe winter weather and ice. Despite the conditions, the hotel still offered early morning yoga, which felt like a stand-alone, grounding experience. The massage I received from Victoria left me wishing I had scheduled 90 minutes instead of less — it was that good. The doormen and front desk staff witnessed in real time how challenging it was to secure a ride to the airport in the icy conditions and went above and beyond by offering suggestions and personal contacts. In the end, we accepted the generosity of another out-of-town guest who was traveling with his driver. Discernment meant accepting this noble offer while also asking the staff to make note that we were leaving with men we didn’t know, based on their trustworthy appearance. Praise again: we made it to the airport safely and ultimately home.

The level of service here is outstanding. I felt so at home and they were all so lovely and welcoming. They were also welcoming to my dog and we had a very memorable time together. The design here is not just interesting but it also makes you feel like you could just move in and stay forever. Thank you to the entire staff for the wonderful stay. It’s an oasis in the city, with beautiful trails and restaurants right outside.

This past weekend was my very 1st time visiting The Peacock. Had no idea what hummus even was. That is until John (our server) suggested and described it to us. In fact, every dish we ordered was a suggestion made by John. Short Rib Hummus, Shakshouka and for dessert...something called a Sticky Date Pudding. 3 for 3. We will definitely be returning.

I recently returned from a business conference hosted at Austin Proper and had a wonder experience. The staff was very attentive and you could tell they put an emphasis on detail. The gym was great and had more equipment and space than I was expecting. Both on site restaurants were top notch and you truly don’t have to leave the property if you didn’t want to.

Overall, I liked this hotel and had a positive stay, but there are some notable drawbacks worth mentioning. During busy times, the hotel feels overcrowded, elevator waits can be long, parking is difficult with the valet when it's busy, and the check-in area can get backed up as well. The lobby bar is very pretty but gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Unfortunately, my Bonvoy Gold Elite status was not honored nor did I receive any benefits from it which was disappointing. That said, the rooms were cozy and comfortable, and aside from the capacity issues, I really don't have major complaints about the stay itself. It feels like the hotel could benefit from better crowd management or more space to handle peak times. Dining and amenities were strong highlights. In-room dining was excellent, and breakfast at The Peacock stood out with very flavorful, tasty dishes. I'll provide a separate feedback for it. The gym is one of the best I've seen at a hotel well equipped, including Pilates tables, a steam room, and overall great facilities. The massage spa was also excellent and very relaxing. pricing is reasonable for the massage at a high end hotel. Goldie's, the bar in the evening, and the tea and coffee spot in the morning (with pastries) were especially warm and welcoming - easily one of the highlights of the stay. I'd rate this closer to a 4-minus, mainly due to pricing which come with some expectations. In my humble opinion, the hotel is a bit overpriced for what it offers. I've stayed at higher-end properties, and this one feels slightly behind compared to others in that category.

We had such an incredible stay here this past week. The staff, attention to detail, and overall ambiance were truly exceptional. Our waiter Gabriel at Peacock was so attentive and even remembered our smoothie order, and the staff member at Goldies during the complimentary morning coffee was warm, uplifting, and made sure we were always taken care of. If you’re considering staying here, we can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a true 5-star hotel. We spent a week here so I can truly say that the entire staff is super helpful and friendly. All the restaurants are great. Housekeeping is amazing. Gym is large and well appointed. The Goldie’s hostess in the morning is a gem. I would go back again and again.

Great experience overall and easily one of the best hotels in Austin. Every food and beverage outlet was excellent, and the style and décor throughout the property are beautiful. A special shout-out to Dodd in the Quill Room for the lovely service and spot-on dinner recommendations. Everyone on property was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The only small miss was that the scheduled turndown service on night three did not happen, but it did not take away from an otherwise outstanding stay. I cannot wait to come back.
